Performance
If you seek comfort and predictability, this is a positive development. The ride quality and driving characteristics of this SUV are comparable to those of a vehicle.
The Atlas is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder producing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, or a V6 engine producing 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. The six-cylinder variants can pull 5000 pounds while four-cylinder Atlases tow up to 2000 pounds.
Both powertrains come with an automatic transmission with eight speeds, and you can choose between front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
Exterior and Interior Design
The spacious cabin of the Atlas is one of its strengths. There is ample space in all three rows of seating. If you frequently have riders on the way back, they will appreciate that you chose the Atlas over its more constrained competitors.
Regarding interior quality, the SEL Premium R-highest Line's trim level features leather seats, cooled front seats, heated second-row seats, and a Fender premium audio system.
The Atlas also features a spacious cargo area that provides substantial storage behind the third row and expands when the second row seats fold flat.
Regarding the exterior, the radically styled Atlas caters to the need of many Volkswagen customers for a vehicle with a unique outward design.
Technology
Atlas SE base models include rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated front seats with a 10-way power driver's seat, and keyless entry. The base Atlas also features an infotainment system with six speakers, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay via App-Connect.
In addition to its remote start, wireless charging, three-zone temperature system, and a hands-free power liftgate, the SE with Technology variant add a changeable 10.3-inch gauge cluster display for specific models. Volkswagen enhances the infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth App-Connect.
The Atlas SEL comes standard with a heated steering wheel and a motorized front passenger seat that can be adjusted in eight ways. The top-tier SEL Premium R-Line specification includes heated rear seats, power-folding side mirrors, ventilated front seats, and a Fender premium audio system with 12 speakers.
Trim Levels
Six trim levels are available for the Volkswagen Atlas: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line.
The SE, SE with Technology, and SEL grades standard is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (235 horsepower, 258 pound-feet).
A 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque powers the SE with Technology and all SEL trim configurations.
The SEL R-Line features are identical to those of the SEL, except for the standard V6 engine. On the other hand, the SEL R-Line Blacks have a blacked-out appearance. The SEL Premium R-Line is the highest-loaded Atlas trim level. It begins with SEL R-Line material and has more intriguing features.
